Thanksgiving 2010

We started cooking on Wednesday - one pecan pie and one apple pie - Isabelle slept through the whole thing.
On Thursday it was a beautiful day so we took a walk in the park.
Isabelle had her dinner early.
We opted for a baked chicken rather than a turkey because turkey is, well, dry.
All the food was delicious (thanks Frank for cooking)!
And Isabelle slept through the whole thing.

What's Happening Today

Things can go from good to bad in a matter of moments.
This girl loves to kick.
And sometimes she even sleeps long enough so that I can shower and frost a birthday cake!

Let's back track a little...

Right before they wheeled me into the surgery room I saw Frank all dressed up in his funny outfit and just had to get a picture. The nurse was apologetic about getting into the photo. I told her it wasn't a problem. All the staff at the hospital was fantastic it is nice to have pictures of some of them.
Here she is just moments after being born. You can tell she's a little mad about being out of her cozy little home.
Just looking at this picture again makes me cry. I'm still so amazed that we grew this little person.
Our first family portrait taken by one of the nice nurses.
Here we are in the recovery room. Can you tell we're a little tired? It was a long 32 hours but she was worth it!
And then Dad and Isabelle get a much needed nap.

Family Outings

I'm not quite ready to venture out on my own with the baby so we made the most of the beautiful weekend together as a family.
On Saturday Frank dropped me off at Target for a few minutes (first time out in the world for me without the baby) so I could look at the Christmas decorations and get a salted caramel hot chocolate from Starbucks! Then we got lunch to go and ate it at the heritage rose garden. Last time we were there was six months ago (see picture below).
May 1, 2010 (Is Frank wearing the same outfit in both pictures?)
On Sunday we went to the South Bay's wetlands (better known as Alviso) had a little walk, Isabelle had a snack and Frank read some plaques.
It was a wonderful weekend and we hope to have many more just like it.

Spittin' Image

Here I am in 1973. What do you think? Does she look like me?
My mom made this quilt for my sister in 1968 then I used it and now Isabelle will use it. (Please excuse the baby bump at the bottom of the picture.)

Grandma Helps

Grandma Shirley came and stayed with us to help with the munchkin.
And Isabelle worked on building her core body strength. Shouldn't be too hard for a little girl who was already lifting her head while she was still in the hospital!

A Day of Firsts

First a little nap.

And she slept through me making Trader Joe's gingerbread. (Very easy and good by the way. Next time I'm adding chocolate chips!) Then she woke up in time for...
Her first (sponge) bath at home and then...
Her first walk around the block in her totally awesome Bugaboo Frog stroller.

Baby Jail

At least that's what she tells us at night. During the day she loves her little crib, at night - not so much.

Home at Last!

We're so glad to be home. Five days in the hospital is a long time even with all the extremely nice and helpful nurses and doctors.
And how lucky to come home to beautiful flowers. Thanks so much!

More Pictures From the Hospital

So sweet and peaceful. Too bad she isn't like this every night!

Fits in the palm of Daddy's hand.

Proud Papa

Sweet Girl

She's Here!

We arrived at the hospital at 5:00am on Sunday October 31, 2010 for our scheduled induction. After many, many hours of labor the doctor informed us that the baby had arrested decent (which means she wasn't coming down the birth canal) that along with meconium in the amniotic fluid meant a cesarean section was highly recommended. With the baby's safety in mind we decided to go for the c section. Thus Isabelle Almara was born at 12:51pm, November 1, 2010 weighing in at a generous 9 pounds 13 ounces! We're all doing well, healthy and happy though a little sleep deprived.
Getting her first bath. She did not like the shampooing portion.
Look at all that hair!

She's such a good girl.
