Christmas 2010

Our first Christmas as a family.
Dad holds the tiny elf.
Grandma Shirley takes a turn.
It's always a good time at The Ranch. You never know what to expect.
Twin lambs born Christmas Eve. Here they are just hours old.
And here's my sister's beautiful tree. Next year we're getting this branch-y kind (which I hear is an east coast thing).
Christmas day consisted of lots of snuggles in our pajamas.
And of course presents!
Now I'm ready to take professional looking pictures day or night.

Aunt E Visits

We had a great visit with Aunt E. First we visited the Christmas tree farm.
And with her help we even managed to get the tree up and decorated.

She held Isabelle a lot which helped me get some stuff done.

She even sang Christmas carols to her.

And being the seasoned parent that she is she could hold the baby and play with her new toy phone.
I think it's love.

Riding in the Car

Elisabeth drove us to my 6-week postpartum doctor's appointment and babysat Isabelle in the parking lot. Thanks again!

Sweet Dreams

She smiles and laughs but mostly in her sleep. For now anyway.

Dutch Baby

She's really using her eyes so much better these days. She loves it when Dad walks her around the house so she can look at everything. She especially likes to look at the CD case. Ha!
Here she is taking a nap in the kitchen. How cute is she with her booty up in the air?
On Saturday I wanted to cook breakfast, Frank was still sleeping and Isabelle wanted to be held so we improvised.
I made a Dutch Baby which I thought tasted like a thick crepe.
And on Sunday we dressed Isabelle in her little elf outfit and took our first trip to Grandma Shirley's house.

Day Out

Yesterday Isabelle had her one month check up. Since I'm still a little leery of going out alone with her my mom and Peggy offered to come along. After the doctor's appointment (which she passed with flying colors!) we...
...took her to her first restaurant. She slept in her car seat through most of it but then wanted mom to hold her. After lunch we did some Christmas shopping at the mall where she slept the entire time in her Baby Bjorn. She's such a good baby and we're having a lot of fun getting to know her. We've learned that she does not like to sleep on her back and would rather sleep on her tummy but where she'd like to sleep most of all is lying on someone's chest.
And everyone likes to sleep on Dad!

Thanksgiving 2010

We started cooking on Wednesday - one pecan pie and one apple pie - Isabelle slept through the whole thing.
On Thursday it was a beautiful day so we took a walk in the park.
Isabelle had her dinner early.
We opted for a baked chicken rather than a turkey because turkey is, well, dry.
All the food was delicious (thanks Frank for cooking)!
And Isabelle slept through the whole thing.

What's Happening Today

Things can go from good to bad in a matter of moments.
This girl loves to kick.
And sometimes she even sleeps long enough so that I can shower and frost a birthday cake!

Let's back track a little...

Right before they wheeled me into the surgery room I saw Frank all dressed up in his funny outfit and just had to get a picture. The nurse was apologetic about getting into the photo. I told her it wasn't a problem. All the staff at the hospital was fantastic it is nice to have pictures of some of them.
Here she is just moments after being born. You can tell she's a little mad about being out of her cozy little home.
Just looking at this picture again makes me cry. I'm still so amazed that we grew this little person.
Our first family portrait taken by one of the nice nurses.
Here we are in the recovery room. Can you tell we're a little tired? It was a long 32 hours but she was worth it!
And then Dad and Isabelle get a much needed nap.

Family Outings

I'm not quite ready to venture out on my own with the baby so we made the most of the beautiful weekend together as a family.
On Saturday Frank dropped me off at Target for a few minutes (first time out in the world for me without the baby) so I could look at the Christmas decorations and get a salted caramel hot chocolate from Starbucks! Then we got lunch to go and ate it at the heritage rose garden. Last time we were there was six months ago (see picture below).
May 1, 2010 (Is Frank wearing the same outfit in both pictures?)
On Sunday we went to the South Bay's wetlands (better known as Alviso) had a little walk, Isabelle had a snack and Frank read some plaques.
It was a wonderful weekend and we hope to have many more just like it.

And now for some artsy pics...

The cheeks!
It's tiring being a baby
More cheeks
Big hands
Funny face
And the lips
